Gideon van den Berg
Gideon van den Berg is a Project Manager and Researcher at ESADE Business School within its Institute for Innovation and Knowledge Management. He plays important roles in two European Commission-funded projects, namely ATTRACT and CS3MESH4EOSC.
ATTRACT is a €50 million initiative aimed at developing breakthrough technologies for science and society, while CS3MESH4EOSC is a Horizon 2020 project that connects different cloud services across Europe, ultimately enabling frictionless scientific collaboration and access to research services. Gideon’s research interests include scientific computing and policy, deep tech, and innovative mitigation and adaptation solutions that tackle the climate crisis.
Gideon's experience in managing large-scale research initiatives is complemented by his work as a Science Communication expert at Science Matters. He has a proven track record of effectively communicating complex scientific ideas to non-experts, bridging the gap between science and the public. He received both his MSc and BSc (Hons) degrees, cum laude, in South Africa, where he gained extensive applied research experience.
With his strong background in project management, science communication, and research, Gideon strives to leverage his experience at the science and business juncture to facilitate the implementation of sustainable and effective solutions to the challenges brought by climate change.
